I am an independent researcher broadening conversations on Afro-descendant peoples’ environmental relations, knowledge, and practices within the present context of climate change.
I earned my PhD in anthropology from Columbia University. Before starting my doctoral program, I was based in Jamaica where I worked in the areas of marine conservation and LGBT policy. I also initiated efforts to amplify community organizing rooted in Jamaican-Windward Maroons’ modes of life. I am a recipient of Jamaica’s Governor General Achievement Award.
